Basics of share investing in NZ
The Financial Markets Authority has a fairly basic Help me Invest section if you have not invested before and want to learn the difference between shares, managed funds and fixed interest investments.
The New Zealand Exchange has a Virtual Trading platform for learning how to trade shares, options and derivatives. You can register to practice here. NZX say you can trade at your own pace, 24/7, in a virtual/risk-less environment. Anyone is able to register and trade on NZX virtualTrading. The equities markets and pricing provided on NZX virtualTrading are based on actual NZX-listed shares. The derivative contracts, although based on actual NZX-listed products, are fictitious and have been created to give users a real market look and feel in a virtual environment only.

Thank you for the wonderful service you provide through your website. I've had the pleasure of selling a parcel of shares: easy, efficient, and very cost-effective. And I especially like the super-easy way your site allows me to chase up companies' various name changes, and so remain up-to-date. I Brandli, Coffs Harbour NSW
